Great, once you figure out how to fit them correctly.,
When I first started using these, I thought I was going to have to return them. They connected easily to my Android phone, and sounded good with Pandora, bTunes, even on phone calls. They even sounded great. The problem was they hurt my outer ears a lot. There was tremendous pressure on the tops of my ears. Obviously, I tried to adjust the fit, in accordance with the directions and the picture on the Motorola website of someone wearing them. Nothing seemed to work. Today, after running 7 miles in them, I decided to return them. 10 minutes later, I realized that the part that was hitting the top of my ears was supposed to go behind the ears. They now feel great, and I’ll definitely be keeping them. They even sound better when worn correctly.
Before you discount what I’m saying, or assume that I’m a complete moron for not knowing how to wear headphones, be warned that the directions for wearing them, and the picture on the Motorola website imply that you are supposed to wear them incorrectly.
Now that I’m wearing them correctly, here are the things they do well:
+ Sound Great
+ Connect easily
+ Switch between calls and music seamlessly
+ Feel comfortable, though they are quite a bit heavier than any other headphones, even the older Motorlas (S-9 and S9-HD)
+ Very well made.
+ The battery life is exceptional and you can charge it off micro-USB.
The owner’s manual is pretty much useless. The format is tiny, and they put more effort into being hip than providing a useful manual for the product. Fortunately, it is intuitive to use.
The price on these is reasonable, considering what you get and what it can do. I bought mine at Best Buy because Amazon didn’t have them yet, and the third party sellers that have them on here are kind of pricey.
I highly recommend that you buy these. I think that you will love them, once you figure out how to fit them.
//update August 24th, 2011 //
After having these for a year, I decided to buy another pair to see if they have changed at all. They have but only cosmetically. Although the old ones continue to work well, the second generation of these has some slight changes. One of the many things that hasn’t changed is the model number and name. The way to tell the second generation from the first is that the white material that touches your head next to your ears is now red. Also the black plastic on the back/top of them is shiny instead of muted. The performance seems to be the same with the new ones as the old ones, though the buttons are a little easier to operate and the battery life appears to be longer.

|Absolutely horrible!!!!,
I owned the S9-HD headset and absolutely loved it. The bass was incredibly deep and the trebles very crisp. I used them for over a year and was very upset when they broke. So, I quickly decided to buy another pair (not a hard decision). When I went to best buys I found that they no longer carried the S9-HD, only the newer H10-HD. I was desperate so purchased them. What a huge disappointment. These things are really heavy. The buttons are not very well defined within the molded body and thus are hard to control. They are much less comfortable than their predecessors. And finally, they sound horrible. Very little base response, tinny high end. My advice is to find a pair of S9-HD’s and save yourself the frustration.

They connected easily to my Samsung Intercept Android phone, and sounded good with Pandora, and several different media applications. Even on phone calls they sound great. My comments about Best Buy and 3rd party sellers being better was only true for the first month that they were out.

UPDATE – January 9th, 2011 – UPDATE
I am still loving these after months of very heavy and sweaty use. They work and sound great. I am posting this update, because I recently bought a Giro G9 Ski and Snowboard helmet and was about to buy the Bluetooth inserts for it. After a bunch of research about how badly the various inserts work, I decided to try wearing the S10-HDs with my helmet. To my amazement it fit and worked perfectly, saving me a lot of money, and providing me an experience that is much better than the alternatives.
UPDATE – May 14th, 2011 – UPDATE
I have been using these for almost a year now and still love them. I don’t really understand the negative reviews, unless Motorola has an inconsistent build quality and some people are getting lemons. Please let me update you on a few aspects of my experience:
Sweat-proof/rainproof – I run in these every day. They are covered in sweat by the time I get home every time. Despite being wet with sweat or rain for long periods of time daily, I’ve never had a problem with them. I can’t explain why so many other reviewers are.
Sound quality – I am not a sound aficionado though I can tell when headphones don’t sound right though. To an average listener, these headphones sound fine. To me, they sound just as good as my Bose QC-1.5s though that is probably more because of my unrefined average ear, than to them really being “Bose Quality”. My point is not to get discouraged by the reviews that complain about the audio quality, unless you are one of the small percentage of people that can tell between good and great headphones. I can’t.
Fit – The fit on these is fine. Even worn correctly, they do become uncomfortable after a few hours, but most headphones do. The fit thing I like about these is their versatility. I wear them mowing the lawn, under Remington shooting hearing protection, skiing, with a Giro ski helmet, and cycling, under a bike helmet. By being able to fit in all these different applications, they’ve saved me from having to consider buying inferior specialty headphones.
After almost a year, I still highly recommend these headphone.

Here is a quick unpacking and fitting review for the Bose Headphones. My apologies when my dog heard somebody walk in the house and started barking, I edited about 95% of that out.
I just got back from running a half-marathon with these in my ears the entire time. My first impression is that these were extremely comfortable. So comfortable, in fact, I pretty much forgot they were even there when the music was off during pre-race instructions. The other pair I had, that did not have the StayHear tips, were also comfortable, but this raised the comfort level just a notch.
Also, these were very stable. Usually when exercising with any headphones I have to press them into my ear as they shift with all the bouncing that I end up doing. Especially the in-ear, noise isolating ones that give me a headache after an hour of so of use. I did not need to do that ONCE with these headphones. They get in there, they stay there, and are very comfortable the entire time.
Everything about this is fantastic. The sound, from the lows, the mid-range, and the highs, sound great. When I listen to audio books, the speakers come across very rich and clear, almost like they are standing right next to me.
These are, without a doubt, my go-to headphones 90% of the time. The only thing I won’t use these for are when I’m trying to block outside noise and only noise-canceling, over-the-ear headphones will work for that. Which is a shame because they block the noise but are nowhere near as clear sounding or comfortable. I just wish I could afford the Bose brand, but I can’t justify the expense.

|The Best Headphones I have ever owned,
These headphones are simply amazing. I have used Bose headphones before and they are always wonderful. Those were always the over the ear variety and honestly although they sounded great I did not like the feel nor did I find them practical. The price was always far more than I wanted to pay as well. That all changes here. Although the price is not in line with the bargain basement ear buds out there this set is so far above what you get that the price is more than worth the difference. The unique in ear ear bud stabilizer is a thing of genius and make in ear headphones a thing of comfort and improve consistency and quality of the audio experience.
Even though much more expensive than many other headphones I found the price to be one that I am OK to pay. These headphones have a remarkable range regardless of price. The bass is full and clear. The sound across the board is very unmuffled and distinct. I am very happy. This product is heads and tails above the standard buds that come with your iPod/iPhone and just about anything else on the market today.
Pros:
1. Fair Price
2. Great Sound
3. Great Range
4. Great Bass
5. Light / Comfortable / Stylish
6. Unique Design for in ear placement
Cons:
1. Cost make the set a bit expensive for all audio devices. I won’t be buying for my kids
2. I can’t come up with two cons. This is an amazing product.
A great set of headphones that I couldn’t be happier with. I hope they last me a very long time.

|Huge Sound from these Little Guys!,
When I first opened the packaging I was a bit frustrated because it’s not the “hassle free” packaging that I truly appreciate. You have to pull out the scissors to open this bad boy and be careful about not cutting yourself with the sharp plastic edges of the cut box. Fortunately, my experience with the BOSE IE2 ear buds gets better from there.
The Medium size, “StayHear” buds are in place when you get the earphones, and you have S, M, and L for both the StayHear and regular ear buds. I normally wear a size Small in other earbuds, so after trying on the Mediums that were already on, I tried on the Smalls. They both fit me, which was unusual for me. So after spending about 5 minutes trying out the various sizes and styles, I opted to stick with the StayHear Medium size ear buds.
They feel a little looser than the traditional ear buds I use from Skull Candy (those Smalls feel truly wedged into my ears when I wear those and it starts to hurt after a while), but they don’t seem to fall out after just moving my head around in various directions.
I plugged the IE2s into my iPod first and the sound was much louder than with my other earphones, so I had to scale back the volume. This is helpful on an airplane and in the gym when there’s a lot of background noise to have a higher volume ability. Then what shocked me was the actual sound quality. The bass was totally audible without being painful in my ears. The sound was crystal clear. I then switched over to use the earphones on my laptop and again, the sound quality was amazing and much louder at the same setting than my other earphones. I’m not one to listen to things very loudly, but it’s still nice to have the ability to listen to it loudly should I so choose.
Aside from the actual earbuds/sounds: There’s a little carrying case that comes with it. While it’s a nice case, I don’t see myself ever truly using it. It’s boxy and takes up a lot of space. I’ll probably end up just using the satin bag that comes with my old earphones to store them when not in use or traveling as it’s much more compact. The wires of the earphones are black and white, which I found to be different. I’m used to the all white from Apple, or all black or all solid color. So I kind of like that it has a distinctive black/white to it…makes me feel kind of “hoity toity” walking around with earphones that are distinctive to being BOSE and not some other, less expensive brand.
I would highly recommend these earphones. They’re a gem once you get past figuring out which size/style ear buds are right for you.
